New Beginnings

Happy New Year and congratulations on surviving the holidays!  This is the time we start things anew and resolve to make this year a better one than last.

New Year’s resolutions are one of the techniques we use to better our lives.  Sadly, they are easier to make than keep, and usually fall by the wayside pretty quickly.  For several years I have worked out regularly at a gym.  It’s the same every year – January brings a host of new people.  They throng into the exercise classrooms, use the equipment, walk or run the track, all gung-ho.  By the middle of February, most of them are gone and things settle back to the former status quo.

Most resolutions fall away that quickly.  A couple of tips can make those resolutions easier to maintain.  First, don’t set your sights too high.  Make your goal something you can achieve, so as not to frustrate yourself by falling short.  Instead of resolving to lose 50 pounds, resolve to lose ten; when you have achieved that, re-resolve to lose another ten.  Inch your way to your goal and it’ll be easier,

Second, don’t commit yourself to a year’s duration.  Whether it’s quitting smoking or some other bad habit, adding exercise or some other good habit, shoot for smaller time increments.  Commit yourself to one or two weeks, then another one or two weeks.  Most gyms will let you purchase a short-term trial membership.   That will make your goals easier to achieve.

Another good resolution is to clean out and de-clutter your home.  While you’re putting away those holiday decorations, box up and put away all those never-used dishes and glasses, linens, home décor, and other “stuff.”

And what to do with all that “stuff”?  Fight your way up and down the attic stairs or clutter up the garage?  Here’s a better idea – a storage unit at Quail Creek Self Storage.  We have units as small as 5 x 5 and as large as 10 x 40 for small boxed items or large furniture.

We are conveniently located at 3030 West Memorial, on the south side, just west of the Shoppes at Quail Springs shopping center.  Our entrance is on Hollow Rock Road so we are accessible from the Quail Creek neighborhood.  We are open Monday-Friday 9:30-5:30 and Saturday 10:00-2:00.  Or our manager Bob will meet you by appointment.  Just give us a call at 749-4613.  You will have 24/7 access to your storage and we have security lights and cameras.

Let Quail Creek Storage help you make this a great year!
